Founded in 289, the Obsidian Spires stand in opposition to the Kingdom of Aisha. Founded but only three centuries ago, it stands as a den for the most vile of individuals: pirates, thieves, necromancers, oath breakers, and the profane. It has remained out of foreign conflicts, which has lent to its success despite enabling extensive organized crime.

Political System

It’s an open secret that Lira is a military government following every command of the shadowy figure that rules the Obsidian Spires. The Ruler of Lira maintains a low profile, meeting only occasionally with important diplomats and wealthy traders.

Judicial System

While you’ll struggle to find any formal law in Lira, there isn’t any shortage of people convicted. Those that don’t find there judgment immediate and final will find their misfortune the entertainment of others in a game of Spell Ball.

Geography

The Obsidian Spires sits to the southeast peninsula of the Sea of Mortimer, standing on an elevated cliff overlooking the Wyrm Ocean. Thanks to this positioning nations don’t seriously consider attacking Lira.

The Six Spires

Lira is divided into six obsidian spires, each serving a different function.

The South Spire

The southern spire serves as the entertainment district. Most people have only ever entered the southern spire, at least as a free creature. Here you’ll find the spell ball arena, casinos, red light districts, taverns, cage fights, and more. Although I find this spire entirely disagreeable, I must recommend the specialty ale in the Dragon Tavern.

The Southwest Spire

The spire to the southwest spire is the merchant district. Here you can purchase stolen goods, folk who lost every coin to their name, or mercenary work.

The Southeast Spire

The Southeast Spire serves as passage to the cliff the other spires sit atop. It is of particularly ornate design, even compared to the other spires. Of course, in addition to passage to and from the city of Lira and Lira’s docks, it also serves as the quarters to the Knights of the Spires.

The Northwest spire

This tower is rumored to be associated with the arcane arts. Some have seen wizards traveling in and out of the spire. Perhaps most disturbingly, most are of the school of necromancy…

The Northeast Spire

While it vexes me greatly, the northeast spire is a library! After pleading I was granted access to the library on condition that I do not divulge the information I found within its tomes and contribute the original copy of this book to their vast archives.

The Center Spire

The residence of the Ruler of Lira. As few have ever had the privilege of meeting the the shadowy figure that rules Lira, I consider us lucky to even know that this spire is his primary residence.
